MEANINGFUL, ENGAGING EXPERIENCES
We offer a problem-based, bilingual program with activities and projects grounded in local problems and places. Students will see the results of their work in their community as they build communication and inquiry skills, learn how to interact in different environments, and get a better understanding of themselves and their place in the world.
As students meet academic goals and build community pride, place-based learning increases civic engagement, knowledge of local issues, and agency. As a result, they have stronger connections to the community. Place-based learning uses local opportunities, cultures, landscapes, experiences, and heritage to study language arts, math, social studies, science, and other subjects.
Our innovative, problem-solving approach to learning encourages students to take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential activities, persist toward goals, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative, critical-thinking process. In-demand knowledge and skills result from real-world projects as learners prepare to become change-makers in their communities.
